Nothing too exciting to report from day 5, as we spent a large amount of it on the road. Knowing we had a huge 700 mile drive ahead of us, we took the decision to get on the road as early as possible, and so set off from Washington at 5.30am.
The rest of the day was spent on the road, stopping at various service stations to stretch the legs, and passing through 6 states in total. The temperature grew noticabely warmer with each stop as we headed west, and was up to 97 degrees by the time we reached Chicago and extremely humid.
After 12 and a half hours in a car, there really was only one thing for us to do, so we headed to Hooters for food then onto some bars for a ‘few’ beers, which turned into many beers, shots and fishbowls.
